You know the saying ‘It’s so bad, it’s good’? Well, Cannibal Ferox director Umberto Lenzi’s 1980 movie Nightmare City is exactly that, being a film that is so totally ridiculous and terribly put together that anybody not versed in Italian exploitation cinema will probably be laughing too hard at it for all the wrong reasons, and you couldn’t fault them for doing so. You know you’re in for something truly special when a forensic scientist in a film about spiders that is called Spiders declares that spiders are insects and lay insect eggs. And that’s probably about the most memorable thing about this low-rent monster B-movie that features Patrick Muldoon (Starship Troopers), Christa Campbell (The Iceman) and William Hope (Aliens/Hellbound: Hellraiser II), presumably all wondering where it went wrong for them.
